Committees

All NHFT committees are chaired by at least one Executive Board member. We welcome the involvement and ideas of our Rank and File members.

​Legislative Committee

Leslie Blatteau and Marianne Maloney
This committee shall be active in local, state, and national legislative matters.

Community Affairs/Actions Committee

Education Committee

Dave Low 
Members of this committee shall participate in AFT CT K-12 Council, the Cooperative Educational Planning Committee (C.E.P.C.), and the District Planning and Management Team (D.P.M.T.).

​Labor Committee

Michael Soares and Steve Staysniak
​
Members of this committee will meet regularly to discuss and disseminate resources and information related to the labor movement around the city and the world. Per our by-laws, elected members of this committee will serve as delegates to the Central Labor Council and AFL-CIO conventions.

​Finance Committee

Iris Festa and Michael Mazzacane

Communications Committee

 Mia Comulada-Breuler and Rose Murphy
​This committee shall be responsible for all local union communications.

Working Conditions Committee

Tim Shortt and Kirsten Hopes-McFadden
This committee will work to improve the school-wide climate.  We will look to protect teachers’ time to plan, collaborate, and provide effective instruction. We will work toward ensuring proper facilities and resources are provided for teachers to deliver quality instruction.

Educator Shortage/Teacher Retention Committee

Ashley Stockton and Carrie Smith
This committee will work to collect and present data reflective of teacher retention and resignation. Additionally this committee will collect data reflective of teacher priority asks for improved working conditions and job satisfaction.
